Director's Bio

She began her dance studies at age 5 at the "Gloria Campobello Dance School" in Tijuana, B.C. At the age of 17 she began teaching ballet, jazz and tap in such school until she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 2003. She was a professional ballerina for the "Ballet del Noroeste de Mexico" participating in ballets such as La Bayadere, Giselle, Coppelia, Don Quijote, The Nutcracker, Paquita, Carmen, among others. Throughout her career she has taken dance seminars at "PRO-DANZA", "Centro de Promoción de la Danza" in La Habana, Cuba; at the "Escuela Superior de Danza y Música" in Monterrey , N.L, Mexico and in the United States.

Her mentor's repertoire throughout her career includes people highly valued within the world of dance like Jorge Esquivel, Silvia Marichal, Jorge Cano, Ronaldo Sarabia, Jorge Vega, Susana Benavides, Jaime Vargas, Margarita Robles, Minerva Tapia, Lilian Tapia, Diana Angelini, Jean Isaacs, Tilio de la Rosa among others. In 1999 she is invited to join the "Minerva Tapia Dance Group" (GDMT) where she had the opportunity to represent this contemporary dance group in several competitions as well as in national and international festivals such in: "XXVIII INBA-UAM Award" in Mexico City; "Festival de Danza Universitaria" in Hermosillo, Sonora; "Cuerpos en Transito Festival" and "Entijuanarte" in Tijuana, B.C.; "Mix-Match Dance Festival" in Los Angeles; "International Dance Congress" in Málaga, Spain; and "Blue Grass State International Dance Festival" in La Grange, Kentucky. She has also performed in Flagstaff, Arizona; Soho, New York; San Diego and Rancho Bernardo in California, and in Ensenada, Tecate and Mexicali, in Baja California, Mexico.

In 2009 she was accepted to become a member of the International Dance Council (CID-UNESCO), which is the official umbrella organization for all forms of dance in the world.

For Mrs. Claudia Valdes, dance is her passion. She has been teaching dance for more than two decades and with her extensive experience she has been able to bring that passion to her students helping them discover their full potential and the gratification dance can provide. Experiencing her student's progress and growth class by class through hard work, effort and dedication is her greatest satisfaction.
